MAKE YOUR OWN TRANQUIL DAWN FIGURINE

MAKE YOUR OWN TRANQUIL DAWN FIGURINE

Tranquil Dawn:

The colour of a new morning. This year we lost our freedom and our dreams of travel and new beginnings.
The only species that had freedom of travel, were the animals. Hence this DIY portrays their freedom and our belief in a new, exciting dawn.

You will need:

• Dulux Tranquil Dawn paint
• Paint brush
• Scissors
• Pencil
• Thread
• Wood block in preferred size
• Screws or nails • Air-dry clay
• Ruler
• Cutting board
• Cardboard
• House template (free online)
• Thin wire
• Old magazine
• Industrial stapler
• Craft glue
• Pictures (download/copy)
• Piece of felt • Skewer

Step 1
Trace the house and roof template onto cardboard and cut out. Fold on the lines with a folding bone or plastic ruler. Remember to keep the tracing lines on the inside of the house. Glue the house and roof with crafting glue. Let dry completely.

Step 2

Roll out a piece of air-dry clay and trace the swallow. Leave to dry.

Step 3

Paint the wood block with the Dulux paint. Add a second coat if needed.

Step 4

Glue a piece of felt on the bottom of the wooden block.

Step 5

Cut and twist a piece of wire to length and size and attach it to the back of the wooden block with the industrial stapler. (Use safety goggles!) Add screws or nails to the sides of the wooden block. Glue the pictures of animals and birds to the wire.

Step 6
Fold a paper boat from an old magazine page or crafting paper and glue it to the wooden block. Push the skewer through the middle of the boat and secure with a dab of glue. Knot a piece of thread from the boat to the nail on the side of the wooden block. Attach another piece of thread from the mast to the boat and add some paper or material flags. Glue the figurine to the boat mast. Add animal and bird pictures of choice.
